Introduction




Turmeric is flowering herbal plant. Turmeric use in cooking for flavors and color.it is use in the India as medicinal purpose.Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. turmeric belongs to zingibaraceae family. turmeric is a Perennial, rhizomatous, herbaceous plant.The rhizomes are used fresh or boiled in water and dried, after which they are ground into a deep orange-yellow powder. Turmeric has warm,bitter and earthy taste.it has mustard like aroma.


Turmeric Native




Turmeric is native of Southeast Asia and Indonesia. It is grown commercially in that region.primarily in the India near about 40- 45 species of turmeric are found in the India.in Thailand,30-40 turmeric spices are found. Turmeric also found in Tahiti, Hawaiian and Easter island before European contact.


Turmeric description





Turmeric plant grows up to 1m tall in hieght.Profoundly extended, yellow to orange, barrel shaped, fragrant rhizomes are found.The leaves are substitute and orchestrated in two columns.They are divided into leaf sheath, petiole, and leaf blade.the petiole is 50 to 115cm long.the leaf blades are usually 76 to 115cm long and width is 38 to 45cm.shape is oblong to elliptical, narrowing at the tip.



Turmeric flowers allude to the sprouts of the Turmeric plant. The pipe molded flowers are white, yellow or pink. They bloom between light green, verdant bracts, or altered leaves, of the plant. The whole flower structure is conelike fit, and is around 12 centimeters long. Both the blossoms and vegetative bracts are eatable, and have a sharp scent.in the Malaysia and Indonesia,this Turmeric flowers are used in traditional raw vegetables salad known as "Ulam"
