Introduction


Beetroot is root vegetable.it also known as beet.another names are red beet, garden beet,golden beet, table beet and dinner beet. scientific name is beta vulgaris.beet is flowering plant belongs to subfamily of betiodeae of the family of amarthaceae.the leafy beetroot is known as chard or spinach beet.it's use in cuisines,food coloring and Medicinal uses.Beta is the ancient Latin name for beets.beet is little sweet in taste but leaves are bitter in the taste.it can eat directly.types beets are distinguish by their different colors like as pink, yellow,white and dark purple.Beets are most extensively grown in temperate to cool regions or during the cooler seasons. beetroot is an edible plant.Beet contains water-soluble nitrogenous pigments called betalains. They are immonium derivatives of betalamic acid.



Beetroot description


The plant is normally erect with a long principle root and a rosette of leaves developing on stems.The leaves are oval in shape, arranged alternately on the stem and grow 20–40 cm (7.9–15.7 in) in length. The roots are red in color.The plant produces sessile green blossoms and can arrive at 1–2 m (3.3–6.6 ft) in height.

Beetroot contains carbohydrates, Proteins, Fats,high in nitrates,betalain pigments and a great source of various vitamins and minerals like folate, magnesium, potassium, vitamin B-6, iron, thiamine, riboflavin, glutamine, zinc, copper, and selenium.

1)  Baby Beetroot - Baby beets are especially delicious when served with various types of greens 


2) Bolder Beetroot - It is a tasty type of beet that can be cooked in various ways.


3) Common garden Beetroot - this beet is regular beet used for salads or soups.


4) Cylindra Beetroot - This fine-grained type of beet has a sweet flavor and great texture and their flesh is a deep red color.this beets are more little sweet in taste than other beets.


5) Golden Beetroot -  beets have a mild flavor and a golden or yellow. color.There are also different varieties of the Golden beet including the Golden Detroit and the Burpee’s Golden Beet.


6) Mangel - Wulzer Beetroot - It is shaped like a cross between a beet and a carrot, in part because of the fact that it is fat and top-heavy. These beets have a sweet flavor and a white or golden-yellow color. They are a rare heirloom variety from Europe. 


7) Red Beetroot - Red beets are especially delicious when roasted.this beets used as canned beets.


8) Striped Beetroot - Also known as Bassano or Chioggia beets, these beets have stripes on the inside of the vegetable which make them look similar to a candy cane.Striped beets are available all year long and they have a very sweet, earthy flavor.


9) Sugar Beetroot - sugar beets are conical in shape and off-white in color.Roughly 20 percent of the sugar production in the world comes from sugar beets, in part because they have such a high level of sucralose.


10) White Albinos Beetroot - White Albino beet is all-white in color and is usually treated as an annual. Originating from Holland, this beet is very sweet and round.
