Silver
Silver is precious metal used for making jewelry, electrical contacts, Electronic printed circuits, medicines, religious rites,high-valued tableware, utensils. silver is soft, ductile, malleable and lustrous in characteristics.silver is a chemical element with the symbol Ag and atomic number is 47.silver symbol Ag derived from Latin word Argentum which means "shiny" or "white".silver is good conductor of electricity.thermal conductivity of silver is highest among of all the materials.silver has a bright metallic luster and can take on a very high polish. Polished silver reflects 95% of the visible light spectrum which makes it most reflective metal.this reflective property of silver is used for mirror coating, telescope, microscope and solar panels.
The Mexico City is the world's largest producer of silver. The Peru is the second largest producer of silver metal.silver have been found dating as far back as 4000 BC.silver was the first metal to used as currency. In the ancient Egypt, silver was valued higher than gold. The first silver US dollar coin was minted in 1794.silver forms alloys with copper, zinc and gold.like gold and platinum, silver never rusts.native silver sometimes found in oxidized zones above the ores of other metals.it persist there because silver does not readily react with oxygen or water.it does react with hydrogen sulphide to produce a tarnished surface that is compose of the silver sulphide minerals known as acanthite.most native silver is found associated with hydrothermal activity.the number if minerals that contains silver as an essential constitute is surprising.silver minerals can be sulphides, telluride, halides, sulphates, sulfosalts, silicates, borates, chlorates, iodates, bromates, carbonates, nitrates, oxides, hydroxides.most gold found in placer deposits is alloyed with small amounts of silver.if ratio between gold and silver reaches up to 20% such a material is called "Electrum".silver also forms natural alloy with Mercury.
Applications of Silver
1) Silver is used in the production of almost every Electronic device such as tablets and smartphones.
2) Silver is intrinsic element in the production of the photovoltaic cells which are used in automobile components and solar panels.
3) Silver is used as Cathode in batteries and also in the membrane switches in TV.
4) Silver oxide cells can be found in the manufacturing of hearing aids, toys calculators, camera.
5) Silver is used in soldering and brazing of metals.
6) plasma TV sets may relay on silver for more than just the one-off switch.
7) Silver-oxide is used in button batteries that power cameras and watches,as well as in aerospace and defense applications.
8) Silver-zinc batteries are best alternative to lithium batteries for laptop, computers and Electronic cars.
9) silver acts as a catalyst to produce two important chemicals Ethylene oxide and Formaldehyde. Ethylene oxide is used for plastic handles, flexible plastic such as polyester. Formaldehyde is used for solid plastic and resins.
Health benefits of Silver
1) silver can control internal heat and circulation.
2) Silver has antimicrobial properties which helps to fighting against infection, aiding in cold, flu prevention.
3) Silver can promote metal health.
4) Silver provide elasticity to blood vessels that is very important for healing, bone formation and skin maintenance.
5) silver helps to boost immunity power.
6) the medical use of Silver include it's use in wound dressing, creams and antibiotic coating on the mediCal devices.
7) Silver containing dressing may increase the probability of healings for venous leg ulcer.
8) Electrolytically dissolve silver has been used as a water disinfectant agent for water purification.
